Funny to give a movie with Gene Kelly and Mitzi Gaynor only three stars, but those three stars belong solely to them. I love old musicals but this one was just too dated (chorus line dancers in black face, seriously?), and the story with the three women and love affairs and court case, etc. Snoozer. There are some beautiful dances and sets, and costumes, but it just fizzled for me. Still, anything with Gene Kelly or Mitzi Gaynor I will watch!
GREAT 1957 Cole Porter Hollywood international musical with excellent acting, dancing/choreography - everything!
I'm having a lot of fun watching these adult late 50's films which I wasn't interested in then since I was just a pre-teen lad. That Mitzi Gaynor is one beautiful (and talented) lady!
Intertwined past romance and conflicting memories of their cabaret days fuel the plot.
The dance number at the end (a parody of Brando/The Wild One) is especially good with terrific dancing/leg work by Ms. Gaynor.
The extra 'Flea Circus' is worth a watch, too.
