Filmmaker and novice farmer John Chester chronicles the eight-year quest he and Molly Chester went on when they traded city living for 200 acres of barren farmland in the foothills of Ventura County and a dream to harvest in harmony with nature. Through dogged perseverance and embracing the opportunity provided by nature's conflicts, the Chester's unlock and uncover a biodiverse design for living that exists far beyond their farm, its seasons, and our wildest imagination.

Very interesting! A 6.5 out of 10. This shows very clearly what is wrong with modern farming practices, and why there is so much land erosion, insect infestation, etc.
Don't know how this was financed, probably investors. They had a lot of help from their friends, as this is a true story! Beautiful photography throughout, with very realistic presentation. Everyone should see this movie!

Fascinating documentary about a young couple, idealistic and a bit naive, who bet the farm, so to speak, on creating a diverse environment that is in harmony with nature. Gorgeous photography and it's hard not to admire their gumption. One question I'd love answered is how they handled the finances as they built up the land and got livestock. It's hard to see how they are sustainable or even make money. Maybe this film helps with that.
But see it if you have ever dreamt of going back to the land (you might change your mind after viewing!) or want to understand how non-corporate
farming can work.
