The second installment in bestselling author Kathryn Lasky's staggering WOLVES OF THE BEYOND series, a spinoff of the legendary Guardians of Ga'Hoole books. The wolf pup Faolan was born with a twisted paw, a slight defect that caused his wolf clan to abandon him in the forest to die. But Faolan, with the help of the grizzly bear who raised him as her own, survived. Now he's made it back to his clan as a gnaw wolf, the lowest ranking pack member. And the hardships are just beginning. Another gnaw wolf, Heep, is jealous of Faolan and sets him up for failure. As if these humiliations are not enough, Faolon is framed for the murder of a wolf pup. Faolan must catch the culprit in time and prove he deserves to be a full member of the clan.

The book is the first perspective. It is about a wolf with a twisted paw who is thrown out of their pack at first but then survives under the care of a grizzly bear. Fortunately, he makes it back, but is known as the lowest ranking member of the pack. He suffers endless abuse, mostly by another wolf named Heep. Then a wolf pup is murdered and the poor wolf is to blame. Just because he had seen the pup doesn't mean he killed her! One night, when Faolan (the wolf) went to bury her, he was suddenly surrounded. Heep made the report. Faolan proves his innocence with the help of another wolf. Heep's tooth nick was in the bone of the pup and he is consequently banished.

This is, not doubt about it, the most epic book ever!!!!! i started to read it then i could not put it down. its better to start with the first book though. it is much easier to understand that way! by the way the first book is called lone wolf.

This was a great book, except it kinda got annoying when the author started using the phrase 'in his marrow' whatever... but other than that, it's breathtaking.

i liked this book but anyone else notice how many times the author used the word "marrow"?? like 30 times maybe!! it's not even a common word! like blah blah in his/her/my/their marrow! how annoying!! her/she needs to use new metaphors or hyperbole or whatever. and she makes up her own words too
