Bopuppy is totally right, it is a pity that a program which could have been really good is not so much about the sites themselves as about its host visiting those sites. I wonder, why BBC financed the program, it looks like it is a show shot by the host for his family's viewing. Dan's political views sometimes are shocking, e.g. he is admiring magnificent and unimaginably expensive Moscow subway stations built in 1930s with thousands of tons of marble and statues, while in those same years millions of Soviet citizens died from state-organized hunger (he never mentions this). I could only recommend this to people who know history really well and can tell right from wrong themselves, especially when showing it to kids -- as presented by the host, it really could give them some wrong ideas.
