"Elevation" is a term used by psychologists to refer to the positive feeling we have when witnessing another person's compassion and caring in response to another person's suffering. Indridason's stories have that effect on me in a milder form. I love the three detectives under the leadership of Erlendur and their persistent search for the origins of the skeleton found in the dry bed of an Icelandic lake. I love how Indridason weaves the story from historical threads with current persistent detective work. I hope others will also discover Indridason's wonderful, dark, Icelandic stories.
