It's been awhile since I've read a Hannah Swenson mystery- I had forgotten how much I truly enjoy them. They're light, whimsical, sweet, and charming. They aren't going to win any awards; the writing isn't that great, the characters can be one-dimensional and the identity of the murderer tends to come out of left field. Despite all of this, I am always entertained by Fluke's cozy mystery novels. This one is no different. Hannah Swenson, owner of a cookie shop, solves a murder with the help of her friends and family, with plenty of cookie and dessert recipes thrown in for good measure. All of the important characters make comebacks, including all of Hannah's friends, coworkers, family, and boyfriends. There are two mysteries wrapped in Fudge Cupcake- one is of course, the murder of Sheriff Grant, and the other is the recipe for the namesake of the novel. Some of the characters can grate on nerves, including Delores, Andrea, Mike and even Hannah's cat Moishe. It's still an enjoyable read, and I'll certainly be picking up the next in the series.
