Found this book by chance on the shelf (or maybe it found me) and decided to give it a go as I had never read anything on Icelandic mythology. I was pleasantly surprised how good a read it was. I really got into the story and grew to care about the characters. It was a very easy read, thanks to Ms. Tobin's good writing. She really makes mythical Iceland come alive. I was completely immersed and lost in the history, geology and ancient lore of Iceland and looked forward to getting back to the story. A great escape into another time and place. I recommed it to Tolkien and mythology fans and readers looking for strong female characters. I was as transfixed reading this as I was as a kid reading Greek mythology, and it has inspired me to read more such stories.
