Pox
Pox An American History By Willrich, Michael Book - 2011

I heard this book reviewed on NPR following the book festival. It is wonderful! It narrates smallpox while intertwined with civil liberties, drug regulation, american imperialism, and medical sciences.
It's an extremely engaging read. Willrich leads readers through the jim crow south, the northeast citiies and tenements, and rural midwest between ventures to PR and the Philippians.
