This book is extensive in research on the body/mind connection, but it goes much, much deeper than just negative thinking. The author shares studies on people who have had childhood trauma, anger issues, repressed emotions and serious stress, and the diseases that were developed in these individuals. Not only does this book show what stress can do to the body, but it also shows the serious effects repression has on the health of our bodies. Our environments, relationships and how we handle stress is proven to genuine importance on our paths to health throughout our lives. Dr. Mate shows us how important it is to look at the whole body when it comes to disease, including the psyche.
