As Ruso works to find out whether there is a body in Hadrian's wall, a Briton child is kidnapped. The Britons threaten an uprising, if he is not returned. Since they suspect the Romans of taking the boy, this seems logical, except the Romans don't have him. Can Ruso find him in time to stop a war. As usual, Tilla disregards all instructions as to what she is not supposed to do and still comes out with a clean slate and a murderer at the end. Ruso is bloodied but in good enough condition to be married to Tilla in the British manner.
