THE ENEMY OF MY ENEMY is mostly the usual fare of WEB Griffin and son, William E. Butterworth. Good story telling and, again, a great backdrop of history related to chasing down Nazi war criminals. In this, case there is a focus on two such folks who were very close to the top of the Nazi hierarchy and responsible for some very heinous crimes. Add to that the continued shenanigans of ODESSA and sprinkle in some involvement of the Vatican. There were two elements of this story that were a little disappointing. The first is some overkill in repeating stories already told in the text as new players came on board and needed to be briefed in. The second occurred when a tragedy happened to someone close to the main character, Capt. Cronley. After a very brief moment of grief, it's like it never happened - not very realistic in my mind. To offset those two disappointments, the ending will knock you socks off.
