Funny, and fun to read. Little frog doesn't like the idea that it has to sleep through the winter. But as owl explains, that's what frogs, and bears, do. Frog of course cries out at the unfairness of this, that other animals get to stay awake and enjoy the season. As other creatures are drawn into the conversation, the owl and them dispel some of the frog's idealistic views of their lives. Bold, cartoony expressions, which really sell the humour, and the dialogue in their word balloons, make this a great readaloud. Eventually the frog accepts its fate, but children will likely be too busy laughing to get much themselves.
