An interesting but by no means intimate account of the life of the prolific singer songwriter. The author 'bonded' with Mercury by offering a pack of cigarettes and an unbiased ear. The closeness of Mercury and Mary Austin is denigrated in favor of a sometime female acquaintance; while Austin remained by Mercury's side from the beginnings of Queen to his untimely death in 1991. Good investigative work into his early life but by no means to be taken as an insider's view.
